When lifting the handle no longer locks the door
UPVC and composite doors can develop faults in the cylinder, handle, alignment or multipoint mechanism. Similar symptoms can have different causes, so the door needs an assessment before replacement parts are selected.
Common symptoms
- The handle is stiff or will not lift fully.
- The key turns but the door does not lock.
- The door locks when open but not when closed.
- The door is stuck shut or the mechanism has failed.
- A window or patio door will not secure.
Avoid forcing the hardware
